World Kidney Day 2009

Over half a billion people worldwide have some form of kidney damage and the prevalence is increasing. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) almost always leads to complications such as cardiovascular disease and anaemia, and World Kidney Day (WKD), a global health awareness campaign seeks to increase awareness of the importance of our kidneys and reducing the impact of CKD worldwide.  On March 12th the 2009 campaign highlights the importance of high blood pressure as one of the key risk factors of CKD whilst encouraging routine screening for ‘at risk’ groups. As a sponsor of WKD, Roche has again developed this year’s e-greeting card to help spread awareness and also re-introduces the Kidnerelli characters as detectives to support the detection and screening messages.

In addition  to featuring in the WKD's e-greeting card The Kidnerellis are also on Facebook, Twitter and Delicious
